Coaching for PhD students

The concept, goals and recipients of coaching

Coaching is a development tool used to activate the strengths of UMK PhD students and build new strategies of thinking and acting leading to increased effectiveness in the task and relational areas.

Individual coaching involves building a partnership-based, trust-based relationship with the client. It is focused on defining and achieving specific goals. It is based on the client's internal resources, and the methods used help to extract the talents they have in order to achieve the intended goal. Coaching is not psychotherapy, counseling, or mentoring. It is characterized by a lack of directiveness, and its goal is to create change in the client's current life.

Expected results of coaching

The effects of coaching will appear in both the personal and professional areas, helping to identify and develop existing resources. They have both an individual and organizational dimension.

Expected results in the individual dimension: increased self-confidence, development of interpersonal skills, improved work efficiency, improved balance in personal and professional life, better organization of work and personal life, better well-being and better relationships at home and at work.

Expected results in the organizational dimension of the University: fuller use of resources, increased motivation of PhD students and their involvement in their own development, increased effectiveness in scientific and teaching work, strengthened relationships between colleagues, greater creativity and openness to change.
